Dabble Day

Today was the long-awaited dabble day, a chance to try:

  • microwave dyeing
  • marbling with shaving foam
  • Thermofax screens
  • Gelli printing
  • wooden print blocks
  • Inkense pencils and paint sticks
  • Markal sticks
  • stamping

A very well attended day with about 8m of fabric dyed and plenty of other pieces stamped, printed, coloured etc.

The dyed fabrics have been taken home to rinse out so we'll have to wait to see them. Meanwhile, here's everything else. It'll be interesting too see how these pieces are used.

And these two are interesting. The 'dregs' of the marbling foam scraped over stencils with some very nice results. You do have to pick out the best 'dregs' though and avoid the sludge.

A fab day enjoyed by all.

Retreat 2017

Eat/drink, sew, eat/drink, sew, eat/drink, sew, sleep (repeat)!

Just back from our 2017 retreat, very well fed, very tired but feeling very accomplished.

The (optional) theme this year was a layer cake project. There were several of these, plus assorted other projects, some completed over the weekend, others with the quilt top made and the finishing off to be done later on. And, one of last year's retreat quilts was finally bound!

Feast your eyes on these.

Log Cabins with Attitude

I wonder what this little lot will end up as? In quilts, table runners, cushions bags? A fab selection of blocks made yesterday in a Log Cabin with Attitude workshop with Janice Gunner.

June's show-and-tell

There may not have been many of us there last night but there was still plenty to see - lots of finished coil and fabric bowls, a lovely assortment of blocks, quilts (including three more Linus quits) and small projects.

Coil Bowls

A most enjoyable evening and not bad for a first attempt for pretty much everyone involved. This is what 10m per person and about 90 minutes makes. Not every bowl made was photographed so there are still some to be seen.

Linus Quilts 2017 (part 2)

Having donated a huge pile of quilts only recently, today's workshop kicked off with 13 donations all made at home. We hadn't even got the kettle on!

Then we got down to work. Six hours later three more quilts were finished and added to the pile. These beauties, and a few more not photographed, were nearing completion in terms of the quilt top. They've all now gone home to be finished.

We have some very talented and generous ladies in our group. Many thanks to you all.

Welcome to our new members

Most of our new members came along to last night's meeting, the others hope to come along in the coming few weeks.

And, they all brought something to show-n-tell so we had lots to look at last night after our AGM. A variety of projects - bags, cushions, table runners  and quilts.

Some of us have been to workshops recently:

This is Heather's piece from a workshop with Gillian Travis.

These are Katie's Barbara's, Pat's and Maria's pieces from a workshop with Helen Howes:
